Plate tectonic
Plate tectonics is the theory that Earth's outer shell is divided
into several plate picas, and that glide(move with a smooth
continuous motion) over the mantle. Earth is made of layer,
starting from the inner core finished on lithosphere. lithosphere
land that people and other living things live on.
Convection current are caused by the very hot
material at
the deepest part of the mantle rising, then cooling, sinking
again and then heating, rising and repeating the cycle over
and over. That movement effects plates by moving them few
inches by each year. Scientist believe that 220 million years ago
continents were pangaea(stuck together). Alfred Wegener
thought of theory of continental drift.
Because of convection current we have 3 primary types
of Tectonic Plate boundaries:
Divergent boundaries;
Covergent boundaries; and
Transform boundaries.
divergent boundary is when plates move away from each other,
convection current is when denser plate goes under another(oceanic
plate goes under continental because it is denser), and
transform boundary is when plate move by side to side. because of
boundaries we have natural causes like earthquake, tsunami, also by
boundaries we have mountains.
mountains are large land forms that is created by boundaries(all)
by pushing each other, moving away lava will come out and when it
does it frizzes making itself in to rock. Earthquake is the result of a
sudden release of energy in the earth's crust (transform boundary).
and tsunami is when earthquake happens in ocean or in sea.
I think that plate tectonic, convection current, and boundaries are
very important things for earth even thought it causes natural causes.
- I enjoyed everything about this project.
- nothing was challenging for mostly because teacher was explaining good.
- we learned why we have natural causes, why continents are moving, etc
- i would change nothing about this project.
